On Guard is an oil blend by doTerra to support natural immune defense. Not only by supporting the immune system itself, but also using antibacterial/viral and disinfecting properties. But this post isn’t to tell you how amazing On Guard is, although it is, but rather I want to discuss the 5 oils used in the blend and each of the properties that make them great go to oils in cold and flu season! You will also know what oils to blend if you do not use doTerra or have any On Guard on hand.
Wild orange has antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It helps to support the immune system and is effective in helping the body defend itself against the cold and flu. One of it’s best properties in my opinion is its ability to relieve anxiety.
Clove helps to keep bacteria, viruses and mold from growing and spreading. It also helps to stimulate the immune system. Clove is a powerful antioxidant, as a dried spice it measures 300,000 on the ORAC scale (antioxidant) as an oil it measures over 1 million. Clove also relieves pain.
Cinnamon bark inhibits bacterial and fungal growth. It helps improve the circulatory system for increased blood flow. The use of cinnamon dates back to biblical times, when it was often traded and its origin kept a secret.
Supports healthy respiratory system function, has strong antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, and helps reduce inflammation.
Rosemary is a natural detoxifier and antioxidant. It helps inhibit the growth of bacteria mold and keeps it from spreading. IT also reduces inflammation and helps reduce pain.
