…can help you to better understand which oils to use when you have a need arise. It gives you a broad knowledge base of oil characteristics and what options you have choose from. These oils are grouped with similar characteristics but each individual oil has unique properties.
Citrus oils are uplifting and detoxifying. The heighten emotions of feeling invigorated, joyful, energized, validated, enlivened, restored, productive and mindful. Use citrus oils to address negative feelings of being discouraged, gloomy, distressed, depleted, anxious, faint or mindless.
Top properties: antimicrobial, antiseptic, antioxidant, calming, energizing, stimulating, and uplifting.
Floral oils are calming and harmonizing. They elevate feelings of reassured, mended, purposeful, loved, exuberant and expressive. Use floral oils to address negative emotions of fear, worry, hurt, unheard, wounded, neglected, frustrated, depressed, isolated or burdened.
Top properties: Analgesic, antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antiviral, regenerative, and relaxant.
Herb oils are activating and cleansing. They help elevate feelings of acceptance, yielding, open-minded, invigorated, enhanced, unattached, trusting, progressing, enlightened, and relieved. Use herbs to address negative feelings of stubborn, anger, unyielding, confusion, hindrance, degraded, obstinate, doubtful, stalled, limited or inundated.
Top properties: Antibacterial, antifungal, anti-parasitic, antiviral, carminative, detoxifier, and immunostimulant. They are also great to cook with, just don’t use too much!
Leaf oils are invigorating and soothing. They elevate positive emotions of accepting, yielding, receiving, invigorated, enhanced, unattached, trusting, progressing, enlightened and relieved. Use leaf oils to address negative feelings of stubborn, refusing, confused, hindered, degraded, doubtful, stalled, and limited.
Top properties: Analgesic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic, insecticide and invigorating.
Resins are restoring and strengthening. They elevate positive feelings of unified, connected, grounded, nurtured, enlightened, bonded and awakened. Use resins to address negative feelings of being separated, disconnected, stressed, malnourished, unprotected, abandoned, darkened or weak.
Top properties: Analgesic, antidepressants, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, cytophylactic and restorative. This is my personal favorite go to group of oils.
Roots are centering and calming. They elevate feelings of being rooted, flowing, centered, elevated, aware, peaceful, meditative and prioritized. Use root oils to address negative feelings of being ungrounded, obstructed, disconnected, erratic, unattentive, agitated and scattered.
Top properties: Calming, grounding, neuroprotective, neurotonic, nervine, restorative and as a sedative.
Spices are warming and protecting. They elevate feelings of honesty, charitable, bold, receptive, supported, participating, activated and empowered. Use spices to address negative feelings of being repressed, self-centered, uncertain, denied, dominated, apprehensive, apathetic, somber, disinterested or board.
Top properties: Antiemetic, anti-infectious, anti-parasitic, aphrodisiac, digestive stimulant, immunostimulant and warming.
Woods are grounding and renewing. Elevating feelings of receiving, devoted, collected, stimulated, progressing, courageous and composed. Use to address feelings of blocked, uninspired, unsure, congested, stalled, cowardly, overzealous, greving, sad and ashamed.
Top properties: Analgesic, anticatarrhal, astringent, grounding, regenerative, relaxant and steroidal.
